Job Title:  High School Counselor Grades 9-12

 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The School Counselor implements a comprehensive program designed to guide and assist high school students to develop the skills necessary to achieve success throughout the ninth– twelfth grade experience. Counselors provide services that prepare students to build competencies in academic, career and personal/social development and promote a lifelong ability to learn, work and live through leaderships between home, school and the community. The Corbett High School Counseling role provides guidance both to individual students and the school as a whole. From the emotional and educational development of young people, to helping them explore potential pathways, the job of a High School Counselor requires an array of skills and experience. 

High School Counselor Responsibilities & Duties

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Candidate must hold any of the following
  2. A TSPC Personnel Services License issued by the Teacher

    Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) with a School Counselor, School 

    Psychologist or School Social Worker endorsement 

  3. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) License or Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) issued by the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers

  4. Knowledge of classroom behavior management strategies, social skills curriculum, and suicide prevention training. 

  5. Knowledge of community resources, understanding and interpreting psychological reports effectively to others, and providing family, individual, and group consultation. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Training and/or experience in a similar school setting. 
  2. Bilingual/Bi-Cultural Chinese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese applicants are highly desirable. 
  3. Master's in School Counseling

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Start August 14, 2025, open until filled

4-day student contact week with some Fridays and evenings to fulfill school calendar contracted days through at least June, 2026
