Description

This is a hands on job with a small school district in East Multnomah County just 45 minutes from downtown Portland. Corbett School District is a K-12 school and Corbett High School is recognized as one of the highest performing in the country. The community is invested in the school and the Business Manager interacts with community members on a regular basis. The candidate must be comfortable working in a high paced environment where juggling multiple priorities and frequent interruptions. A successful candidate will provide excellent customer service to the employees, the community, manage their schedule and priorities effectively with minimal oversight, and work well with the administration and business office teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

AP – Enter invoices into the accounting system, make payments and process GL entries

Manage payment processing to ensure timeliness

AR – Produce invoices for customers, enter cash receipts

Payroll – Input new employees and substitutes into the payroll system, review and process monthly payroll for 150 employees, process payroll liabilities and tax payments

Audit – Act as the primary contact with the auditors to provide requests and documentation as needed

ODE Reporting – Prepare the Oregon Department of Education reporting as required by the district business office

Benefit Administration – Select insurance carriers, provide training and guidance during open enrollment, administer the HRA accounts and assist employees with insurance questions

Board Reporting – Prepare and present the monthly board financial report

Management Reporting – Assist with analysis as needed and prepare administrative expense reporting on a monthly basis

Budgeting – Manage the budget cycle, prepare budget variance analysis, work with administration to determine budget parameters, prepare the budget documents and present to the budget committee

Employee Tax Reporting – Prepare and submit all required IRS and State employment reporting including 941, ACA, 1099, and W2 preparation

Union Negotiations – Provide analysis on proposed terms and participate in union negotiations as needed. Work with employee and state union reps to resolve employment issues

HR Management – Assist business office personnel with employee onboarding process. Manage the online employee leave system and employee information portal

Project Management – Assist business office personnel to manage real estate purchases, loan acquisitions, and project management for large scale improvements

Month End & Year End Close – Prepare the month end and year end reconciliations and GL entries

Federal Grants – Prepare the grant applications and budget narratives, work with administration team to follow compliance guidelines, manage title fund audits as needed

Conferences and Training – Attend conferences and trainings throughout the year to remain up to date with the changes at the State level

Policy and Process Improvement – Help guide improvements and upgrades to fiscal policies and processes to further optimize the business office

Assist Accounts Payable Personnel-  Work with and train the accounts payable clerk to process all accounts payable in a timely fashion

Job position is confidential under the supervision of the Superintendent, 260 days per year 

Carries out oral and written directions and other responsibilities for which qualified or assigned

90 day probationary/training period

Desired Skills:

4 year degree in accounting or finance

CPA or SFO license or candidate

2+ years in School Business, preferably as a Business Manager or Senior Accountant

5+ years total accounting/finance experience with proficiency in data entry and spreadsheets

1+ years HR experience and familiarity with employment laws

Experience as a business manager in a school district highly desirable

SunGard Business Plus/IFAS accounting software experience

Compensation Package:

Salary will be dependent upon the experience and qualification of the applicant
